Is Medicare Plan G Better Than Plan F?

0
Is-Medicare-Plan-G-Better-Than-Plan-F

Many often ask which is better between Medicare supplement Plan F and G

It is challenging to decide the best among these two unique plans.

It would be best to analyze each cover’s benefits and areas to know the best among them.

Let’s discuss Plan F and G.

What are the Benefits that Medicare Supplement Plan F Covers?

Medicare Supplement Plan F grants the most comprehensive coverage among the ten supplement plans hence, why many people opt for the plan.

Even though it is the most expensive among the ten supplement plans, its benefits supersede every other plan, making it more advantageous than any other plan.

Once you enroll in Plan F, you only have to pay your monthly premium; the plan takes care of your out-of-pocket expenses.

Some of the benefits of Medigap plan F are:

  1. It covers Part A coinsurance and hospital costs.
  2. It covers Part B coinsurance.
  3. It provides for three first pints of Blood.
  4. It caters to skilled nursing facility care coinsurance.
  5. It covers Part A and Part B deductibles.
  6. It covers overseas travel emergency costs.

The clause to Medicare Supplement Plan F is that if you became eligible on January 1, 2020, or later, you won’t be able to enroll, which is why many people are looking for an alternative. However, you can enroll if you become eligible before the date above.

What are the Benefits Medicare Supplement Plan G Covers?

Medicare supplement Plan G is similar to Medicare Plan F and offers equal benefits. However, if you enroll for Plan G, you must pay for your Part B deductible, which is $233 for 2022.

After this payment, the plan will cover every other out-of-pocket expense, and you will only need to pay your monthly premium.

Surprisingly, Medicare Supplement Plan G is cheaper than Plan F, which is the edge of Plan G over plan F.

Most times, the monthly premium payment of Plan F is more than Plan G, so it will be wise to enroll for Plan G instead of Plan F to save costs.

The benefits of Plan F and Plan G are similar, except that you need to pay for Part B deductible in Plan G, which you won’t pay for in Plan F.

Knowing the most cost-effective plan would help if you considered several factors. These factors are your zip code, age, your preferred private health insurance company, and their charges.

On Medicare.gov they explain the comparisons of Plans F & G.

Conclusion

The most critical condition you need to consider when choosing a Medicare plan is to examine which plan satisfies your needs and is also cost-effective. Medicare Plan G is not better than Plan F since Medicare Plan G covers one less benefit than Plan F. You are responsible for paying the Part B deductible, however Medigap Plan F covers the deductible.

How Much Does a Medicare Supplement Plan Cost?

How much does a Medicare Supplement Plan cost

Deductibles, premiums, and co-payments are costs when choosing a supplemental plan. A supplemental plan, or Medigap, helps limit out-of-pocket expenses by supplementing Medicare. A variety of plans are available from different insurance companies. Find out what supplemental plans are, how much they cost, and what they include to choose the right one for you.

What is a Medicare Supplement Plan?

Supplemental plans policy helps limit your out-of-pocket expenses by supplementing Medicare. A variety of plans are available from different insurance companies. Find out what supplemental plans are, how much they cost, and what they include to choose the right one for you. Original Medicare only covers a portion of medical expenses. Supplement Plans can fill the gap. Covering certain coinsurances, co-payments, and deductibles, they help limit your out-of-pocket costs.

Although some supplemental plans do, original Medicare does not have an out-of-pocket cap. However, once you reach this limit, specific Supplement Plans cover the remainder of the cost of health care services for the rest of the year.

Benefits of Supplemental Plans

  • Supplemental insurance policies offer partial or complete coverage for:
  • Out-of-pocket expenses are not covered by Part A and B
  • Part B co-payments or coinsurance.
  • Coinsurance for Part A hospital stays and a year of coverage
  • Nursing facility coinsurance.
  • Part A Hospice coinsurance or co-payments.
  • Limited travel emergency services internationally.

Factors That Determine Supplemental Premium

Type of Plan

Ten supplemental plans are available, including A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N. Each supplemental plan must provide basic, essential, standardized benefits. Medigap plans’ coverage is standardized, but their costs are not. In addition, some plans charge a higher premium than others. These plans usually offer more comprehensive coverage.

Insurance Company

Certain insurers offer discounts for married couples or nonsmokers. Paying your bills online automatically or paying yearly instead of monthly might qualify you for a discount. In addition, some companies offer Medicare SELECT plans, which offer lower premiums if you use specific providers.

Geographic Area

Where you live affects the cost of a supplemental plan policy. Supplemental plans are not available in all states or from all insurance companies.

How the Plan Is Rated

Plans can be rated by insurance companies based on your age. This can affect the amount you pay for coverage. Other plans do not.

What is the Average Cost of Medicare Supplement Plans?

Medicare reimburses private insurers for supplemental policies, which causes vast differences in policy rates. However, insurers may have substantial price differences for the same coverage. For example, some Supplemental plans have a higher monthly premium but provide more benefits.

Supplemental plans cost anywhere between $50 and $300 a month. According to industry experts, a supplemental insurance plan usually costs about $150 a month. In general, higher premium plans have lower deductibles. The opposite is true for plans with lower monthly premiums. Please continue reading to learn more about how a supplemental plan is priced and what factors affect it.

How is Medigap priced?

The pricing policy of your health insurer can directly affect your current and future supplemental plan premiums. However, your age may not affect the amount you pay, depending on the insurer. Other companies may raise the cost of your policy every year or set a rate based on your age at the time of purchase.

Community-Rated or ‘No Age-Related’

Unlike other Medigap policies, this one does not consider age. Therefore, your monthly premiums will not increase or decrease based on your age despite inflation. The cost of this type of policy is roughly the same for everyone, regardless of age.

Evander Medicare Ad 720 × 405 px 1

Entry Age-Rated ‘or Issue-Age-Rated

The cost of this type of policy depends on your age when you buy it. As you get older, the price will remain the same. Initially, the policy’s price was more or less fixed, though inflation may have increased it over time.

Attained Age Rated

Your current age determines the cost of this policy. Your premiums will rise as you age. When you first become eligible for Medicare, you may find that age-rated policies are your most affordable option, which may change in the long run. Inflation and other factors can also increase premiums.

Comparing the Costs of Medigap Plans

Price comparison of Medigap plans is essential when shopping for supplemental plan insurance. To meet the requirements of Medicare, all ten plans must offer standardized, important benefits. Medigap plans’ coverage is standardized, but their costs are not. You can save money by shopping around, comparing coverage, getting quotes, and asking questions. Some believe that Medigap plans are not merely about price but also financial stability, rate increases, claim histories, and customer service. When switching plans, ask if the insurer will consider your health status before enrolling.

6 Secrets Why are Some Medicare Advantage Plans Free?

0
Why are Some Medicare Advantage Plans Free

Medicare Advantage is a type of health plan that provides coverage for medical expenses rather than just providing traditional Medicare benefits. For example, some plans will cover dental services and vision exams and provide coverage for doctor visits. While the plans offer higher-quality services, they are not free. Funds are spent on these plans and, in some cases, by other taxpayers. However, some Medicare Advantage plans are free; this is because:

1.) Some plans are provided by private health insurance companies

Private health insurance companies provide some plans and only receive government reimbursement for coverage to people with Medicare. Since these plans only get paid when they provide services, the amount of money that they receive from the government is greater than what it costs them to provide their services.

2.) Other plans are provided by non-profit organizations

Other plans are provided by non-profit organizations that receive enough money to cover the services’ costs. This is because these types of organizations have certain tax breaks that allow them to not pay taxes on their income and not have to return any of their profits. In other words, the money these plans receive from the government is more than enough to cover their costs.

This is not to say that all Medicare Advantage plans are free. Some plans require patients to pay a premium each month. This means that while they receive coverage from the health plan, they must also pay a portion of the cost of their care and pay taxes into Medicare.

3.) Some plans limit how much they can charge patients.

Some Medicare Plans G is free because they limit how much they can charge patients. For example, a plan may receive $1,000 to provide a particular service for a patient. However, it only costs them $500 to provide the service. In this case, the plan can only charge the patient $500. However, since they are only allowed to spend $500 worth of services, the patient is not charged for anything more.

medical health insurance concept at hospital with 2022 10 06 03 50 50 utc 1

4.) Some plans have flat-rate co-pays

Some Medicare plans are free because they have a flat-rate co-pay system instead of a monthly subscription. For example, a plan may charge patients $10 per office visit regardless of how many visits they receive that month. As a result, patients only have to pay a total of $10 out-of-pocket each month for the services provided by the health plan.

5.) Some plans are free because they are part of group plans

In some cases, Medicare Advantage plans are free because they are part of group plans. In other words, these types of health plans do not have to cover any costs associated with providing their services to any individual patient. Instead, these plans are intended for people who are part of the same employer or union, and their employer covers the health plan costs.

6.) Some plans have limited benefits

Greg Wilson QR TrustedProgram 1 1
Get a FREE, No-Obligation Medicare Quote Today!

In some cases, the plans have limited benefits. For example, a health plan may only cover half the costs of a particular service. As a result, patients will only have to pay half of their regular costs for that service. Medicare or another government program will pay for the remaining costs for the other half. As a result, these plans do not have to charge patients any premium for their services.

Because some plans are free does not mean that you should avoid looking at the plans that charge a monthly subscription. While it is true that these types of plans will save you money up-front, many of them have higher rates than plans that charge flat rates for their co-pays. As a result, you could end up paying more in the long run if you choose a plan that has monthly payments.

Conclusion

Plans may not be free. However, they are often less expensive than the traditional plans they offer to supplement their services. For example, some plans will only charge patients $10 per month for their co-pays without additional premiums. If you choose a Medicare plan that covers your expenses up-front, the amount you will save in the long run and the money you will have to pay each month can be staggering.

CBD for Sleep & Insomnia: Buyer’s Guide

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of over 120 active compounds in the cannabis plant. Many think of the feeling that comes from THC, but CBD doesn’t get you high. CBD has become a very popular health and wellness supplement, with many people taking it for health issues like insomnia or other sleeping problems.

Have you wondered how CBD can help your sleep? What does the research say? When should you take CBD, and in what form?

We will answer these questions to help you get the most from your cannabidiol.

How Can CBD Help with Sleep?

The research suggests that CBD could help with insomnia and other sleep disorders by helping with underlying causes.

These studies have shown that CBD:

  • It may have antidepressant effects
  • Has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties.
  • It may reduce anxiety and help with specific anxiety disorders.

Some of these issues result from bad sleep, which means that CBD could indirectly eliminate insomnia and related problems. A common effect of CBD is sedation and causing sleepiness.

CBD interacts with our endocannabinoid system (ECS), cannabinoids made in your body with suppressing enzymes and special cannabinoid receptors. This system works to help maintain a healthy state of homeostasis, including regulating the sleep-wake cycle.

Also, CBD has been shown to interact with your serotonin receptors, which affects our mood, anxiety, or other processes.

Here’s a summary of the most notable research findings:

  • In a study of 72 people with anxiety and sleep issues, 67% reported better sleep during the first month of taking CBD.
  • In a study of 21 people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), 38% reported better sleep after using CBD.
  • In a case report of four Parkinson’s disease sufferers, CBD improved REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD), a condition where people act out intense dreams.
  • CBD oil improved sleep in a case report of a woman with restless leg syndrome, a condition where you have a strong urge to move your legs.

Does CBD Make You Sleepy?

The studies show CBD use with a high dose (300 mg or more per day) of pure CBD has reported side effects like drowsiness and fatigue. However, most people don’t experience these effects since most people use much smaller doses.

CBD Oil Dosage for Sleep

There is no ideal dosage of CBD oil for sleep that will work for anyone, it will depend on your body weight, genetics, your precise issue, and its severity, or any type of CBD product.

This is why it’s best to follow the “start low and go slow” method, where you begin with a small dose of CBD, like 10-15 mg, then wait a few hours to experience the effects.

If you don’t notice a change, you can raise your CBD dose over time until you find your desired effect.

CBD Capsules and Gummies for Sleep

One of my favorite ways to consume CBD is from gummies due to their delicious taste. Capsules and gummies are another way to use CBD and are very easy to use.

CBD and other cannabinoids have low oral absorption because they’ll have to pass through your digestive system before reaching your bloodstream, and most of the CBD is lost along the way.

However, CBD oil – which uses the sublingual method – produces greater effects than capsules and gummies.

They also take longer to start working because of the time it takes for the CBD to get through the digestive tract and the liver. The effects start to work faster if you take capsules or gummies on an empty stomach instead of a large meal.

CBD Vape Juice for Sleep

Another popular alternative to CBD oil is to vape CBD-infused e-liquid; when you vape CBD, its effects kick in faster, great for instant relief; however, it is the shortest length of benefit compared to other products, and there are health risks associated with it.

How to Use CBD for Sleep

After you choose a product, you usually want to take CBD before you go to bed, giving the product some time to work. For example, if you vape CBD, you could use it right before bed, but if you use capsules or gummies, you may need more time for the CBD to start working.

Why Should You Care About the CBD Products You Buy?

Should You Care About the CBD Products You Buy?

This article was first published on Physicians Cannabinoid Council

Over the past three years, CBD and other cannabinoid products such as CBG, CBN, or other compounds of the hemp plant have flooded the market. From corner stores to large retailers, carrying CBD products has become the new trend. Sales have exploded, and the stigma surrounding the plant is slowly vanishing, hence it has become more and more common for people to discuss openly their self-medication success using CBD products.

When the well-known Dr. Dung Trinh, MD conducts his educational series at senior facilities, he often asks the question: How many of you take CBD products? Only three years ago, ten to fifteen out of one hundred people would raise their hands. Today, nearly all of them answer yes. CBD products are used by consumers to help promote better sleep, as part of a pain management routine, or to help reduce inflammation.

g7UNPrqrSQenocplyyeZ CBD Products 1

SHOULD WE BE EXCITED?

This new phenomenon is both great and worrisome. It is good in the sense that there are a lot of benefits related to this compound, and for those who understand the endocannabinoid system and its interrelationship with CBD products, it has been shown to often be life-changing or help promote and maintain a more homeostasis state of the body.

On the downside of this trend, many people complain that there is either no immediate effect, or they find it disappointing that only a few doctors understand the benefits related to cannabinoid products, or that physicians are not aware enough to even entertain the conversation with patients.

The problem extends beyond just the lack of understanding of CBD products. It is about, what product should be trusted. If not made by pharma or FDA regulated, or sponsored studies, physicians often shy away from getting their feet wet. Thankfully, some decided to get involved.

CONSUMERS AT RISKS

As with any market without stringent FDA regulations and policing, the marketplace becomes a free for all. It is composed of incredibly efficacious and compliant high-quality products, buried in a mass of low-grade, low-quality, and even fake products. This seriously places consumers at risk, knowing that most consumers buy their CBD products either based on nicely designed labels, a referral from friends and family, simply based on price, or believe claims from marketing promotions.

As mentioned before, today, the CBD (and other cannabinoids) market is flooded with products that are not trustworthy.

  • Fake products without potency or CBD in it
  • Tempered Certificates of Analysis (COAs)
  • Labels not reflecting accurately its content or dosage
  • Higher THC content than acceptable
  • Products containing pesticides, mold, heavy metals, etc.

This seriously places consumers at risk, simply because many consumers buy either based on nicely designed labels, referral from a friend or based on price

FACTS DO NOT LIE

At first, consumers were told that a certificate of analysis (COA) is available as proof of the product’s purity and quality. This lab report called COA can be intimidating to read for consumers and furthermore, can occasionally be tempered and modified by unscrupulous parties. A random analysis conducted in 2021 by the FDA found that nearly 64% of products tested had an illegal level of THC or had false information on their labels.

Furthermore, a survey conducted by the Physicians CBD Council in collaboration with the Mace Media Group in 2022 unveiled that 55.1% of consumers felt comfortable to somewhat comfortable reading and understanding what a COA reveals, while only 32.3% of participants were aware that fake or tempered products were a market reality.

One of the most unsettling aspects of what can be found in up to 40% of the products on the market is the dangerous toxic chemicals, mold, pesticides, and harmful heavy metals. A cannabinoid compound may have tested “clean” for its purity but is then mixed with other ingredients such as oil, flavors, colorant, terpenes, and even be impacted by low-quality packaging that can transfer harmful chemicals to the product. It is sometimes difficult, even for the best brands, to be in complete control of the entire supply chain, and very few products are tested at the end of the process, in its retail packaging, ready to be shipped.

43.3% of consumers are either uncomfortable or unable to read and understand a Certificate of Analysis (COA) –

PCC & Mace Media Group Survey 2022

DOCTORS KNOW BEST! OR DO THEY?

Without sounding alarmist, another issue that cannot be ignored is the fact without proper knowledge from physicians of the endocannabinoid system and CBD products in general, consumers are self-medicating. This trend is not unique to cannabinoid products, however, whether or not it contains a cannabinoid compound, self-medicating is a risk when you do not know how it interacts or affects other medications one may take. Let’s set the record straight, we are not, by no means, saying that CBD products have strong side effects, but more so that most medications are filtered through the liver, and the liver can only process a certain amount of nutrients per hour. When and how to administer cannabinoid products become important since you do not want other important medications to not be filtered and processed completely. A person should always consult a physician before self-medicating, but what to do when your physician does not have enough knowledge to help?

The 2022 Physicians CBD Council and Mace Media Group survey showed that 91.2% of consumers wish for their physicians to be more knowledgeable on cannabinoid products and their benefits, with some suggesting that pharmacists would be well positioned to provide help with dosing and education on the topic.

PHYSICIANS ARE STEPPING IN

In 2018, Dr. Dung Trinh, MD considered himself one of the doctors who had a stigma against cannabis-related products. Faced with patients showing up with CBD products and asking him for his opinion, he was shocked to realize that patients may know more than he does on the topic. Equipped with his thirst for facts, Dr. Trinh began researching and reading thousands of studies and facts. This new knowledge changed his mind forever and led him to form the Physicians CBD Council in 2019, with the mission of educating, collaborating, and ensuring consumers’ safety. This is done by educating patients, industry leaders, and doctors on the functions of the endocannabinoid system and the potential health benefits or risks associated with taking cannabinoid-derived products.

The Physicians CBD Council (PCC) now counts about 35-40 highly reputable physicians and nurse practitioners’ medical board of advisors who excel in their primary field of specialty, while choosing to spend time educating their patients and supporting the emerging field of cannabis research for potential therapeutic health benefits.

The Board of advisors includes specialists in the field of family medicine, internal medicine, rheumatology, pain management, endocrinology, psychiatry, nephrology, and more. Although the council started in California, it has since attracted supporters from across the USA, and a few international ones too.

A WELCOME SITUATION

In 2022, the Physicians CBD Council (AKA Physicians Cannabinoid Council) decided to step in further, not to regulate, but instead to evaluate products’ real purity and safety, through thorough testing and factual verifications.

The Physicians believe great products and brands should be identified by a trusted party that will be highly reputable, unbiased, and unshakeable in its integrity, for the safety of consumers and the benefit of the industry in general.

Furthermore, the PCC has teamed up with the company MoreBetter, creator of the Releaf App, to offer product efficacy testing for branded products certified with the Physicians Quality Verified trusted Seal. This opportunity will help the best products on the market have factual data backed by MoreBetter and the PCC.

DO YOU BELIEVE YOUR PRODUCTS ARE CLEAN, SAFE, AND EFFICACIOUS?

The Physicians CBD Council now offers a chance for brands to distinguish their products from the cluster of other lower-grade branded products on the market through a simple but thorough evaluation to receive the Physicians Quality Verified Seal that can be proudly displayed on your products and marketing platforms. The additional option to conduct product efficacy testing is available exclusively to branded products that have passed the seal test/evaluation.

In the survey of consumers conducted by the PCC and Mace Media Group in 2022, a clear 89.5% of people said they would be inclined to buy a product bearing the trusted Physicians Quality Verified Seal of the PCC.

Recent Research Hints At How CBD Could Prevent COVID Replication

Recent Research Hints At How CBD Could Prevent COVID Replication
freely 1

A new study was published by a team of scientists at Oregon State University; the research was led by Richard van Breemen of the Global Hemp Innovation Center. He joined with Oregon Health & Science University scientists and discovered that a pair of cannabinoid acids bind to the SARS CoV-2 spike protein, which blocks a step it needs to infect people.

CBDA, and CBGA, both precursors to CBD and CBG, which are abundant in hemp and hemp extracts, could be used to prevent and treat infection from the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the spike protein.

The chemical cannabidiol, commonly known as CBD, isn’t proven to prevent the SARS-CoV-2 from entering cells; it inhibits the virus’s ability to replicate early in the infection cycle.

The only issue is that the popularity of these products infused with hemp-derived CBD and related cannabinoid compounds has skyrocketed along with customer demand and interest. Still, with little regulation, customers don’t know what they’re buying and ingesting.

Some of these products may or not contain CBD, but often, these amounts are inconsistent.

It’s helpful to read and get recommendations from those that can direct you to products with high purity and concentrations of CBD; some studies report combining CBD with equal amounts of THC will reduce CBD’s efficiency.

One product that could address this issue is Freely’s Covid-Away™ Tincture, which comes with 500mg of CBDA, 500mg of CBGA, and Vitamin D and Zinc.

Freely specializes in Adaptive CBD products that contain CBD and other minor cannabinoids, vitamins, and botanicals that work synergistically together for more effective results.

Their ingredient formulations make your body feel better and put your mind at ease through a wide range of products, including soft gels for night-time, everyday tincturesgummies with elderberry, and cooling relief topical cream.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is THC?

THC is another name for tetrahydrocannabinol, a naturally occurring chemical found in the hemp plant known for its psychotropic effect or “high.”
Some full-spectrum CBD products contain small trace amounts of THC, but you won’t be affected by this, or you can choose a THC-free option.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a chemical found in the Sativa plant, also known as the cannabis or hemp plant. There are over 80 chemicals found in the cannabis Sativa plant. Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the most known chemical.
CBD is derived from hemp, and a prescription form of CBD has been used as a treatment for epilepsy; recent studies have shown promise for anxiety, pain, Parkinson’s disease, Crohn’s disease, and other everyday issues.

Is CBD legal?

Yes, laws were passed in 2018 that legalized the sale and cultivation of hemp and hemp products. However, not all CBD products are legal, and since it’s not an approved pharmaceutical, companies can’t legally use it in foods or dietary supplements.

Have You Told Your Life Story Yet? Visually Enhance Your Legacy with a Personal Documentary.

Your legacy is something to take very seriously. If you’re somebody that wants friends and family to hear your life stories and truly understand who you are, you’ll want to keep reading. If you don’t have time to read, we’ve partnered with Kindred to offer you an exclusive discount of 5% off a personalized documentary video to help enhance your legacy (use code SA5 at checkout or click on this link to automatically apply the discount).

Storytelling is one of the best ways to let people know exactly who you are. Storytelling is something we all do almost every single day, but we all can admit that human memory is imperfect and occasionally those stories get lost. Regardless of the few stories that get lost, humans are wired to remember stories for various psychological reasons, and that is why we need to keep telling them and capturing them.

Have You Told Your Life Story Yet Visually Enhance Your Legacy 1

Believe it or not, your children and grandchildren want to hear your stories! It’s how we all best remember our loved ones. It’s how we connect on a deeper level.

And let’s be honest… you want to tell your stories. How much fun is it to dive deep into a story about your life and share the experiences that led to who you are as a person today? Telling your own life story is one of the most impactful things you can do for your memory, happiness, and enjoyment.

With all that being said, have you taken the chance to sit down and tell someone your most meaningful life stories? If not, why not? Let’s discuss how recording your life stories can visually enhance your legacy for your family and friends.

To start, telling life stories to your children, grandchildren, and friends can make you closer than ever! Imagine if they truly understood the stories behind your wacky family traditions, childhood shenanigans, and how you achieved what you did in your lifetime. Not only do they want to hear these stories, but they want to understand them. A way to really help them understand is by recording a video of the stories exactly how you told them. Your hand motions, your facial expressions, and other mannerisms can completely make or break a good story! Help them understand the passion behind why you love to cook… why you love sports… and what you experienced in the military. At Kindred (a company capturing life stories with personalized documentary videos), you can do just that! Imagine a documentary video featuring…well…you! You can tell your life stories and record them to cherish for generations to come.

Next, your children, grandchildren, and friends want to understand you as a person more. They do! But let’s be honest, they don’t always know the right things to ask to really understand you. Interviewing is a difficult skill. What to ask first? When to dig deeper and when to move on? At Kindred, they believe that recording life stories is an art-form and they’ve gathered some master interviewers to help. They believe the follow-up questions are just as, if not more, important than the questions you start with, and that approach is supported by the Harvard Business Review.

Finally, recalling your own life story and favorite memories is beneficial for your own mental health, happiness, and of course… legacy. So why not give it a try! We have partnered with Kindred to offer you an exclusive discount of 5%-off a personalized documentary video (use code SA5 at checkout or click on this link to automatically apply the discount). They’ll handle the interview and video editing – all you need to do is tell your stories!

In 5 Minutes, I’ll Give You The Truth About Nutritional Immune System Boosters

0
In-5-Minutes-Ill-Give-You-The-Truth-About-Nutritional-Immune-System-Modulators

Your body has an army to defend itself against foreign invaders: the immune system. Your body’s immune system protects you from viruses, bacteria, fungi, toxins, and other things that may cause you harm.

To fight this internal battle against harmful invaders, your immune system responds by creating inflammation. Your body’s inflammatory response allows you to overcome infections and helps you repair damaged tissues (think of a bruise!).

Normally, your body regulates its immune response so that just enough inflammation is released to heal you. However, when your immune system fails to function appropriately, it will also fail to properly employ the right amount of inflammation in your body – potentially causing more harm than good.

If your immune system overreacts to harmful stimuli, this can wreak havoc on your body and result in autoimmune diseases and chronic inflammation.

Consequences of an Overactive Immune System

Cytokine storm is an extreme, uncontrolled inflammatory response where the immune system harms its body. This dangerous reaction has been a primary contributor to the death of patients with Covid-19, as the immune system attacks the body to fight the illness.

unhappy mature lady caught cold or suffering from 2022 06 14 17 36 13 utc

Allergies: a reaction commonly presented in forms such as sneezing, stuffy noses, and rashes in response to hypersensitivity to certain substances.

Internal autoimmune diseases include Rheumatoid Arthritis, Celiac Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Hashimoto’s Thyroid Disease, Lupus, and Type 1 Diabetes.

Eating fried foods, sodas, processed meats (hamburgers, hotdogs), and refined carbohydrates promote immune system overactivity.

On the other hand, if your immune system under-reacts to external and internal pathogens, harmful pathogens such as parasites or cancer cells will be able to invade and harm your body. Contributors to an underactive immune system include congenital genetic disabilities, poor nutrition, sleep deprivation, chronic stress, overeating, lack of sunlight, and lack of exercise.

Consequences of an Underactive Immune System

Cancer. When the body’s immune response is not strong enough, it fails to defeat cancer-causing pathogens. Some examples of cancer-causing pathogens:

  1. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) – cervical cancer
  2. HIV – Kaposi sarcoma, leukemias
  3. Hepatitis B&C – liver cancer
  4. Helicobacter Pylori – stomach cancer
  5. Epstein Barr virus – nasopharyngeal cancer

Infections: Bacteria, mold, parasites, and viruses

As you can see, an out-of-balance immune system (overactive or underactive) leads to health problems and disabilities.

However, there’s hope! There are immune system “modulators” that balance the immune system (homeostasis) and allow it to function at its optimal performance. Luckily, we can eat natural foods and make healthy life choices to increase these “modulators” and boost our immune systems.

Here is a list of 10 Immune System Modulators:

1. Vitamin D3

Vitamin D3, the active form of vitamin D, plays an essential role in regulating calcium and phosphorus metabolism. This vitamin acts as an immunomodulatory and targets various immune cells, including macrophages, monocytes, T-cells, B-cells, and dendritic cells.
According to one study, it is reported that a high dose of vitamin D3 modulates the immune response in mammals via negative regulation of the NF-kB signaling pathway. (Cheng, Tang, et al., 2020) Another scientific study reported that vitamin D3 glycoside and lipopolysaccharide modulates the immune response in the broilers by increasing the production of interleukin-10. (Nunes, de Souza Duarte et al. 2020).

2. Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a reducing agent and acts as an antioxidant. This vitamin is essential against acute aflatoxin activity in guinea pigs. (Sahoo and Mukherjee 2003) In another study, it is reported that vitamin C increases the interferon-γ by reducing the IL-4 in the cultured primary splenocytes; this, in turn, suppresses the Th2-type immune response. The findings of this research suggested that the dose of vitamin C is helpful in the prevention of soybean allergies. (Sun, Li et al. 2009).

3. Zinc

Zinc acts as a cofactor for enzymes involved in cell proliferation, such as DNA replication and signaling pathways. It is reported that zinc plays a significant role in innate immunity. For example, one of the zinc-dependent hormones, “thymulin” secreted from the thymic stroma is responsible for T-cell proliferation. (Goswami, Bhar, et al. 2005).

4. Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are the precursor molecules for lipid signaling pathways and play a significant role in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. Research studies indicated that these fatty acids are helpful against heart disease, neurodegenerative disorders, and diabetes. (Zivkovic, Telis, et al. 2011) One study indicated that omega-3 fatty acids suppress the activity of nuclear transcription factors such as NF-KB and decrease the synthesis of cytokine and inflammatory enzyme production. (Kang and Weylandt 2008).

5. Turmeric (curcumin)

Turmeric is a well-known herbaceous plant because it is anti-inflammatory and prevents inflammatory diseases. Curcuminoids are one of turmeric’s main components with potent anti-inflammatory properties. (Chainani-Wu 2003) One research study reported that turmeric extract contains prebiotics, probiotics, and anti-inflammatory compounds. Prebiotics and probiotics promote the health of the gastrointestinal tract. (Yazdi, Soleimanian-Zad et al. 2019).

6. Green Leafy Vegetables

Green leafy vegetables consist of various compounds responsible for health benefits. Regular consumption of these vegetables overcomes nutritional deficiencies and provides a healthy immune system. These vegetables contain antioxidants, which combat free radicals in the body and provide a defense mechanism against free radicals. In-vitro studies reported that these GLVs are a rich source of antioxidant vitamins. (Gupta and Prakash 2009).

7. Green Tea

Green tea is a tea type commonly used as a beverage globally. It consists of catechins that play an essential role in modulating biological activities and thus provide health benefits. As a nutritional modulator, it is effective against obesity and cancer. Studies reported that it contains a compound known as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) that is effective against cancer. (Rahmani, Allemailem et al. 2015) Another study suggested that green tea is a rich source of antioxidants and effective against oxidative stress. (Peluso and Serafini 2017).

8. Allium Vegetables

Allium vegetables are a rich source of organosulfur compounds, protecting against several cancer types. The Allium family includes onions, garlic, leeks, scallions, chives, and shallots. (Bianchini and Vainio 2001) According to research studies, the extracts of these compounds show antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. (S Bisen and Emerald 2016).

9. Olive Oil

Olive oil exhibits antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and prevents cardiovascular disease and rheumatoid arthritis. The antioxidant effect of olive oil is due to the presence of linoleic acid, oleuropein, tyrosol, and hydroxytyrosol. (Wahle, Caruso, et al. 2004) Olive oil also consists of phenolic compounds that improve lipid metabolism, improve immune function, and prevent obesity. (Farràs, Martinez-Gili et al. 2020).

10. Berries

Berries are a rich source of minerals, vitamins, and anthocyanins. In-vitro studies suggested that berry bioactive compounds play an essential role in oxidative stress. According to the studies, it is reported that berries improve the lipid profile in humans and help in the improvement of total antioxidant status. (Del Bo, Martini, et al. 2015).

The phenolic compounds in the berries are also helpful against cancer and have anti-inflammatory and cell regulatory effects. Overall, berries improve heart health and show high nutritional relevance for heart patients. (Beattie, Crozier et al. 2005).

Conclusion

Our bodies are constantly fighting pathogens to try to stay healthy. When we have chronic inflammation or a weakened immune system, our body may not be able to fight off everything we come into contact with entirely, which is why taking care of our immune system and using supplements to support it. Chiropractic care also helps to optimize your immune system’s functions. Specific nutritional supplements also have significant research to show that they boost your immune system and keep it functioning correctly.
