What is CBD?

With a revenue forecast of over $20B in 2024 for CBD, the market is booming.

CBD is one of over 200 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids found in cannabis.

Most people think about getting high when hearing about cannabis, but THC is a different chemical.

Over the years, hemp has become a preferred plant to grow due to its low (no more than 0.3%) THC content, so you won't feel high when you consume it.

CBD has been credited but not proven to help with many conditions like epilepsy, anxiety, inflammation, insomnia, and pain.

7 Conditions to Treat with CBD

1.) Epilepsy – In June 2018, the FDA approved Epidiolex (a plant-based formulation of CBD) to treat seizures for people two years and older with Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS) both are rare forms of epilepsy.  Combined with conventional epilepsy medications, CBD has been proven even trials to reduce seizure frequency in almost 44% of people.  CBD can interact with other medications and cause side effects, but in general, CBD is beneficial for treating certain types of epilepsy.

2.) Pain – CBD has been known to have anti-inflammatory effects and works on the endocannabinoid and pain-sensing systems to help relieve pain. I've applied it for lower back pain and pain in my legs.

3.) Arthritis – You can absorb the CBD easier topically; some people report that they have gastrointestinal side effects when taken orally. Although not proven, it's believed that CBD could be beneficial at relieving arthritis.

4.) Anxiety – Taking CBD in doses that you can control can be helpful as a daily regulator of mood. Also, if you find yourself in a stressful situation or having a bad day, enjoying the perfect amount of CBD could be a more natural alternative to heavier medications.

5.) Depression – CBD has been reported to affect serotonin levels in the brain and serotonin positively.

6.) Sleep Disorders – In this study of 72 adults presented with stressful situations saw anxiety reduced in the first month in 57 patients (79.2%). Sleep improved within the first month in 48 patients (66.7%) but fluctuated over time. It may help you sleep better.

7.) Acne – Commonly caused by an elevated sebum production and inflammation of the sebaceous glands. In this study, CBD was shown to have anti-acne effects by inducing excessive sebaceous lipid production and reducing inflammation.

What Other Conditions Can Be Treated with CBD?

Many studies have concluded that CBD has immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a good choice for some autoimmune conditions or inflammation-related complaints.

In addition, there have been new trials to see if conditions like muscle-spasticity in multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, substance-abuse treatment, and diabetes protection.

The side effects of CBD can include nausea, tiredness, and irritability and can interact with some medication, like warfarin.
